Storms Target the Southeast as Labor Day Nears
A persistent train of thunderstorms will shift south across the eastern U.S. into the Labor Day weekend, bringing renewed risks of damaging wind gusts and flash flooding. After storms batter parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, the threat will focus on the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. Humid air and the edge of a South Central heat dome will fuel the storms, creating rapidly changing conditions for holiday travel, beaches and boating.
