Getty Center to Undergo Year-Long Closure for Major Modernization
The Getty Center, a prominent museum in Brentwood, is set to close for a year starting March 15, 2027, to undergo its most significant modernization project since its opening in 1997. The renovation will include reimagined gallery spaces, improvements to the tram system, and a renovated Welcome Hall featuring a new cafe, bookstore, and retail shop. Additionally, enhancements to cell phone and Wi-Fi service are planned. During the closure, a programming space will be opened on Sepulveda Boulevard, and the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades will remain operational, displaying a selection of paintings from the Getty Center.
