Israeli Military Accused of Widespread Looting in Southern Lebanon Amid Ongoing Conflict
Israeli soldiers have been accused of looting civilian properties in southern Lebanon during the ongoing conflict, according to a report by Haaretz. The looting, which includes the theft of items such as motorcycles, televisions, and furniture, is reportedly occurring without intervention from senior commanders. The report suggests that the looting has increased due to changes in the nature of the fighting, with soldiers spending extended periods in abandoned areas. In response to the allegations, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has ordered a Military Police investigation and reinforced checkpoints at border crossings. Despite these measures, rights groups have criticized the Israeli army for rarely taking serious action against soldiers accused of offenses.
