Senator Van Hollen Announces $250,000 Federal Funding for Boonsboro Wastewater System Rehabilitation
U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), alongside Senator Angela Alsobrooks and Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, announced $250,000 in federal funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for the Town of Boonsboro, Maryland. This funding is designated for the rehabilitation of the town's wastewater system. The project involves inspecting 20,000 linear feet of sewer mains to identify sources of infiltration and installing cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining in deteriorated sections. This initiative aims to prevent overflows during rain events, reduce treatment costs, and enhance wastewater services for 42 businesses and 475 households in Boonsboro. Senator Van Hollen emphasized the importance of upgrading aging sewage infrastructure for community health and the local economy.
