Niles Mayor Confirms Woman's Death in House Fire, Investigation Underway
A house fire in Niles, Michigan, on Monday resulted in the death of a 68-year-old woman, as confirmed by the Mayor of Niles. Emergency crews were dispatched to the 200 block of North 7th Street before 3 p.m. after an Amazon driver reported an outdoor couch on the porch was burning. Four individuals were initially inside the residence, but a family member informed firefighters that one person did not escape. Police from various departments, including Michigan State Police, have secured the area with crime tape. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with authorities working to gather more information.
