The Midwest and Southern Plains are experiencing high temperatures in the 90s°F (32-37°C), while the East Coast remains hot and humid, with heat indices making it feel like 93°F (33.9°C) in New York City and 95°F (35°C) in Providence, Rhode Island. Wildfire smoke from the Northwest has spread as far as the Midwest and Great Lakes, contributing to poor air quality. Elevated fire danger persists in the Northwest due to strong winds, dry conditions, and high temperatures.
