Trump Administration Bans Imports of Chinese Humanoid Robots and Power Inverters Citing Security Concerns
The Trump administration has announced a ban on the import of Chinese-made humanoid robots and power inverters, as part of a broader effort to secure the domestic artificial intelligence supply chain. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revealed these new restrictions, which are aimed at preventing potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities and supply chain risks associated with these technologies. The ban targets advanced robotic devices and connected power inverters used in renewable energy systems, batteries, and data centers. The decision follows recommendations from an interagency national security panel convened by the White House. The panel expressed concerns that these devices could be exploited by foreign actors to surveil Americans or enhance foreign intelligence capabilities.
