Actress Marissa Bode Claims Discrimination After Being Denied Boarding Due to Disability
Marissa Bode, an actress known for her role in 'Wicked,' has alleged that she was denied boarding on a Southern Airways flight because of her wheelchair. Bode shared her experience on TikTok, stating that she was unable to board the flight to Pennsylvania after airline staff informed her that all planes in their fleet require passengers to ascend stairs, which she could not do. Despite prior assurances from the airline that her needs would be accommodated, Bode was ultimately not allowed to board. Southern Airlines' policy states that their planes, which hold 28 or fewer passengers, are exempt from providing mechanical lifts as per the Air Carrier Access Act.
