New Mexico Police Department Workers Prepare for First Contract Negotiations After Unionization
Police officers and other employees at the Village of Bosque Farms Police Department in New Mexico are preparing for their initial contract talks. This development follows their successful unionization with AFSCME New Mexico over the summer. In July, the New Mexico Public Employee Labor Relations Board formally recognized AFSCME New Mexico as the bargaining unit for these employees. The workers formed their union with the primary goals of securing fair wages, improving workplace conditions, enhancing workplace protections, strengthening the police department, and boosting recruitment efforts.
