Imperial Irrigation District Hosts Earth Day Celebration to Promote Environmental Awareness
The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) held its third annual Earth Day Celebration on April 25, attracting local residents despite breezy weather. The event, aimed at promoting environmental stewardship, featured a variety of activities and informational booths focused on water conservation, energy efficiency, and the protection of the Salton Sea. Attendees participated in raffles and won prizes such as energy-efficient lightbulbs. Local organizations, including the Imperial FFA and UC Farm Smart, contributed by hosting educational games and distributing solar oven kits. The IID also showcased its Green Lighting for Outdoor Wellness (GLOW) program, demonstrating the benefits of LED lighting.
