Animal Rights Advocates March in New York to Abolish Animal Testing
Animal rights advocates, including representatives from NAVS (National Anti-Vivisection Society), participated in a march in New York to call for the abolition of animal testing. The event, which included a 207-mile walk from Albany to Marshall BioResources, aimed to draw public attention to animals bred for laboratory research. Participants gathered outside the New York State Capitol in Albany and concluded their march at Marshall BioResources, identified as the largest breeder of dogs and cats for research. The march highlighted the suffering of animals in testing facilities and advocated for the adoption of humane, human-relevant scientific alternatives. The event also featured a screening of 'The New Gold Standard,' a documentary exploring human-based research technologies. Advocates urged support for the Companion Animal Protection Against Cruel Testing (COMPACT) Act and called on the USDA to revoke Marshall BioResources' license.
