Margaret McNamara Education Grants Open Applications for 2027 South Africa Program
The Margaret McNamara Education Grants (MMEG) have opened applications for their South Africa Program for the 2027 academic year. This program is specifically designed to support women from eligible African countries who are pursuing undergraduate or master's degrees at designated South African universities. Since its inception in 1981, MMEG has awarded $5.6 million to 639 grantees from 81 countries. Applicants must be self-identifying women, at least 25 years old by the deadline, and nationals of a country on MMEG's eligibility list. Enrollment must already be in place, either full-time or part-time with a minimum of two courses per semester, and candidates must remain enrolled for at least one semester after grants are awarded in December. A graduation plan within three years of the award is also required. The application window for the South Africa cycle runs from May 15 to September 14, closing at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, with successful applicants notified in December.
