Taylor Farms Faces Lawsuits Over Cyclospora Outbreak Linked to Taco Bell Lettuce
Taylor Farms, a supplier for Taco Bell, is facing multiple lawsuits following a cyclospora outbreak linked to its iceberg lettuce. The outbreak has affected several states, with Ohio and Michigan being among the hardest hit. At least four lawsuits have been filed in state and federal courts, with plaintiffs alleging illness after consuming contaminated lettuce at Taco Bell locations. The lawsuits name Taco Bell Corp, Taco Bell America, and Taylor Fresh Foods as defendants. In response, Taco Bell has removed the affected lettuce from its supply chain, and Taylor Farms has recalled its Mexico-sourced iceberg lettuce from the U.S. market. The FDA and CDC are investigating the outbreak, which has resulted in over 1,645 confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis in the U.S. since May 1.
