State Police Probe Apparent Drowning at Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire
An apparent drowning at Ossipee Lake in Freedom, New Hampshire, is under investigation by state police. The incident was reported just before 3 a.m. on Saturday when a man, identified as 45-year-old Shawn Meader from Waterville, Maine, was believed to have gone underwater while swimming and could not be located. The Center Ossipee Dive Rescue Team was able to recover Meader from the water, but despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The authorities have indicated that the death does not appear to be suspicious, but the investigation into the exact circumstances is ongoing.
