New Bezos Academy Location Opens in Louisville's Riverport Community, Offering Free Early Education
A new Bezos Academy location has opened in Louisville, Kentucky's Riverport community, providing free early education to local families. City and school leaders celebrated the opening of this facility, which is the fourth Bezos Academy to launch. The academy is preparing to welcome 80 children in the coming weeks. Liz Swanby, Chief of Schools for Bezos Academy, emphasized the school's focus on its impact on children and families within the community. District 1 Metro Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins highlighted that bringing the academy to her district addresses community needs and ensures access to opportunities for residents. Parent Danyea Hickman shared her positive experience, noting the academy's hands-on learning, life skills development, and meal provisions have greatly benefited her daughter, who previously attended the Russell location.
