Lockheed Martin's Sikorsky Introduces Nomad 100 Fast Pack for Rapid Autonomous Air Deployment
Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has unveiled the Nomad 100 fast pack, a containerized vertical takeoff and landing uncrewed aerial system (UAS) kit. This system is designed to enable rapid deployment of autonomous air capabilities from austere and infrastructure-limited locations. The fast pack is housed within a single 20-foot ISO container, which includes four Nomad 100 aircraft, mission-command software, power, communications, and sustainment equipment. This integrated solution aims to meet the U.S. Armed Forces' demand for compact, low-footprint autonomous platforms that can be quickly deployed, sustained, and repositioned in contested environments. According to Rich Benton, vice president and general manager of Sikorsky, the system makes it easier to move, employ, and reposition VTOL UAS capabilities with urgency and flexibility. The Nomad 100 was developed with funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as part of its Early VTOL Aircraft Demonstration (EVADE) program.
