Severe Thunderstorms and Tornado Warnings Issued in Chicago Area
Severe thunderstorms accompanied by destructive winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall are impacting the Chicago area. Tornado warnings have been issued for parts of DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties in Illinois, as well as Lake and Porter Counties in Indiana, until at least 1:30 p.m. CDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) has reported hail as large as baseballs in Kenosha and Racine Counties, with a tornado near Lake Geneva moving south at 30 mph. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the entire Chicago area, including northwest Indiana, through 8 p.m. CDT. The region is under an 'enhanced' threat of severe weather, ranked as level three out of five by the Storm Prediction Center.
