Boat Explosion at Miami Sandbar Results in Mass Casualty Response, 11 Hospitalized
A significant boat explosion occurred near the Haulover Sandbar in Miami, leading to a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident. The explosion, reported at 12:48 p.m., prompted a large-scale emergency response involving more than 25 units from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, including Fireboat 21 and Ocean Rescue units. Partner agencies such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the United States Coast Guard also responded. Upon arrival, emergency crews found multiple individuals injured, necessitating an upgrade in the response level due to the number of victims and the need for additional resources. The conditions of the injured individuals have not been disclosed, and the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
