Monsoon Storms Expected in Phoenix with Severe Weather Risk
Monsoon storms are forecast to develop across eastern and southeastern Arizona on Monday evening, with potential impacts extending to the Phoenix area. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Phoenix and southern Arizona under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms late Monday night and overnight. These storms may bring strong wind gusts, blowing dust, and heavy rain. A flood watch is in effect for southern Arizona, including Tucson, on Monday, and will extend to southeastern Arizona, including Cochise County, on Tuesday. Storm chances are expected to increase to 50% on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, lingering into Thursday morning. Temperatures this week are forecast to be slightly cooler than normal, with highs of 105°F (40.6°C) on Tuesday, 101°F (38.3°C) on Wednesday, and 99°F (37.2°C) on Thursday.
