Quiet Tropics: No Cyclone Formation Expected Over Next Week
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has reported that no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of America over the next seven days as of September 7, 2026. Currently, three tropical waves are being monitored, none of which pose a threat to Florida or the United States. Tropical waves, clusters of showers and thunderstorms, are significant as they contribute to about 80% of major hurricanes. The Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, remains active, and residents are encouraged to stay prepared despite the current calm conditions. The NHC has also updated its tropical outlook map to include new visual indicators for disturbance likelihood, enhancing clarity for public advisories.
