American Library Association Seeks Candidates for 2027 Leadership Positions
The American Library Association (ALA) Nominating Committee is actively seeking candidates for key leadership roles for the 2027 spring election. These positions include ALA president-elect, executive board member, and councilor-at-large. The ALA emphasizes the importance of diversity in its leadership, encouraging nominations that reflect a wide range of experiences, races, genders, ethnicities, and both new and experienced members. The president-elect will serve a three-year term, transitioning from president-elect in 2027-28, to president in 2028-29, and then immediate past president in 2029-30. Executive board members will serve a three-year term from 2027-2030, while councilors-at-large will also serve a three-year term from 2027-2030, beginning after the 2027 ALA Annual Conference. The deadline for submitting nomination forms is October 31, 2026. Members not selected by the Nominating Committee can still run for office by petition, with a deadline of December 14, 2026.
