European Investment Bank Invests €100 Million in Elekta's Radiotherapy Solutions to Advance Cancer Treatment
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced a €100 million investment in Elekta, a Swedish health-tech company specializing in radiotherapy solutions. This significant funding aims to bolster Elekta's research and development efforts in advanced cancer and neurological condition treatments. Elekta's technologies are currently utilized to treat over 2 million patients globally each year for various conditions, including brain, breast, kidney, lung, pancreatic, and prostate cancers, as well as essential tremor and certain forms of epilepsy. The company plans to allocate approximately €200 million to its research program between 2026 and 2029, with the majority of this work concentrated in Sweden and the Netherlands. The EIB's loan will cover up to half of this planned investment, focusing on areas such as radiotherapy, radiosurgery, brachytherapy, and software for therapy planning and delivery.
