Future ICU Management to Integrate AI and Wearable Technology for Enhanced Patient Care
By 2050, the intensive care unit (ICU) is expected to transform into a distributed, technology-enabled system. This evolution will integrate artificial intelligence (AI), automation, tele-ICU, and continuous patient monitoring to improve early detection, personalize treatment, and enhance efficiency. Wearable biosensors and AI-enhanced devices are already showing promise in detecting hypoxia and other conditions, potentially allowing for earlier intervention. However, the successful implementation of these technologies will require overcoming technological, regulatory, and workforce challenges.
