Ukraine Plans to Sell Yacht of Sanctioned Politician Viktor Medvedchuk
The Ukrainian government is preparing to sell a yacht previously owned by Viktor Medvedchuk, a pro-Russian politician. Medvedchuk, who has a history of supporting pro-Russian activities in Ukraine, was sanctioned in 2021 for allegedly funding paramilitary groups in Donetsk and Luhansk. He was later charged with high treason and placed under house arrest. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Medvedchuk was captured and later exchanged in a prisoner swap. The yacht, a 92-meter Feadship named Royal Romance, was seized by Croatian authorities at Ukraine's request and is now managed by Ukraine's asset-recovery agency, ARMA. Despite procedural resistance from previous ownership, ARMA is moving forward with the sale, which is in its final stages.
