Federal Funding Secured for Blatnik Bridge Replacement Project Connecting Wisconsin and Minnesota
Governors Tony Evers and Tim Walz, alongside U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Amy Klobuchar, recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Blatnik Bridge replacement project. This significant infrastructure initiative aims to reconnect Superior, Wisconsin, and Duluth, Minnesota. The project has secured approximately $1 billion in federal funding, allocated during the Biden administration earlier this year. While the full-scale construction is slated to commence in March 2027, preliminary work has already begun. The replacement project is anticipated to span five years, during which local roads will experience rerouting. To mitigate the impact on local businesses, a series of support measures are planned, including marketing fairs, weekly construction updates, and customer-tracking data. These efforts are designed to help businesses adapt and continue to attract customers throughout the construction period.
