Heat Dome to Bring Record Temperatures to Central U.S.
A massive heat dome that has been affecting the western United States is expected to shift eastward, bringing record-breaking temperatures to the central U.S., including the Mississippi Valley, in the final days of July. According to AccuWeather meteorologists, cities such as Kansas City, St. Louis, and Memphis will experience temperatures near or above 100°F (37.8°C) for several days, marking the hottest weather of the season so far. The Texas Panhandle is forecast to see temperatures at or above 105°F (40.6°C) in some areas. RealFeel® Temperatures, which account for humidity, could reach 110°F (43.3°C) or higher, posing significant health risks. Relief is expected midweek as thunderstorms arrive, but temperatures will still remain in the 90s°F (32-37°C) for most areas.
