North Charleston Police Arrest Two After Children Found in Abandoned Home
North Charleston Police arrested Kendall Zayne Witherspoon, 25, and Christopher Lee Morris, 43, on Wednesday morning after discovering two young children in a dilapidated and reportedly abandoned home. Both individuals are charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. The incident began shortly after midnight when an officer responded to a possible burglary report at a residence on Southern Street. The officer observed Morris leaving the property. Upon entering the home, officers found it in severe disrepair, lacking running water and electricity, with broken windows, despite an outside temperature of 88 degrees with high humidity. Inside, Witherspoon was found with two small children in strollers. A search of the property revealed drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe, foil, and several butane lighters, along with live and dead cockroaches on nearly every surface.
