Frank Michalek's Legacy Celebrated in Plainfield, IL
Frank Henry Michalek, a 92-year-old resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away on July 10, 2026. Born in Chicago in 1934, Michalek was a dedicated educator and athlete, having taught physical education for over 40 years at various colleges. He was also a participant in the Senior Olympics, setting a world record in the standing long jump at the age of 71. Michalek was a U.S. Marine and an active member of several organizations, including the Sokol and the American Legion. He was known for his love of music and dance, often performing handstands at notable locations during his travels. Michalek is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A visitation and funeral service will be held at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with military honors concluding the services.
