Fahrelnissa Zeid's Art Returns to London with 'Immersion' Exhibition
The Turkish Jordanian artist Fahrelnissa Zeid, a pivotal figure in the Turkish avant-garde and Modernism, is being celebrated in a new exhibition titled 'Immersion' at Dirimart in London. Curated by Adila Laïdi-Hanieh, the exhibition marks Zeid's first solo gallery show in London this century. The exhibition showcases a range of works from Zeid's career, including pieces that have never been publicly exhibited before. Zeid, who was trained in Istanbul and Paris, held her first solo exhibition in Istanbul in 1945 and was the first woman to have a solo show at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London in 1954. Her work gained renewed attention with a retrospective at the Tate Modern in 2017.
