Flotilla Attempts to Deliver Aid to Gaza Amid Israeli Blockade
A flotilla carrying humanitarian aid is set to depart from Barcelona, Spain, with the aim of breaking the Israeli blockade on Gaza. The flotilla, consisting of 39 boats, plans to deliver medical supplies and other aid to Palestinians in Gaza. The organizers, including Thiago Avila, have stated that rough seas will initially redirect the flotilla to another port before proceeding to international waters. This effort follows a previous attempt in October, which was halted by the Israeli military, resulting in the arrest of Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and over 450 others. Israel maintains control over access to Gaza and denies accusations of withholding supplies, although international aid organizations argue that the aid reaching Gaza remains insufficient.
