American Airlines Passenger Duct-Taped After Alleged Racist and Homophobic Rant, Arizona Realtor Identified
An American Airlines passenger, Layne Arthur Lundeen, 67, was duct-taped to his seat by fellow passengers after allegedly engaging in an alcohol-fueled, racist, and homophobic rant on a flight from Dallas, Texas, to Newark, New Jersey. The incident occurred on Thursday night, approximately 75 percent into the journey of American Airlines Flight 618. Lundeen, identified as an Arizona realtor and reportedly a vice president at Long Realty in Tucson, began yelling at a male passenger next to him, making comments about Jesus and hell. When a Black flight attendant intervened, Lundeen allegedly used a racial slur and made homophobic remarks. He then reportedly pushed a female passenger who tried to help and bit two male passengers who intervened. The flight was diverted to a Baltimore airport, where Lundeen was removed and taken into custody on state charges, with potential federal charges from the FBI.
