Taiwan Receives Final Batch of M1A2T Abrams Tanks from U.S., Enhancing Military Capabilities
Taiwan has completed the acquisition of its final batch of M1A2T Abrams main battle tanks from the United States, as reported by the Central News Agency. The delivery included 28 tanks, which have been assigned to the Republic of China Army's Army Armor Training Command in Hsinchu, Taiwan. These tanks are set to be deployed with the 6th Army Corps, responsible for operations in northern Taiwan. The M1A2T variant is equipped with a 120 mm smoothbore gun and a bespoke gas-turbine engine, featuring modifications to meet specific requirements of the Republic of China Army. This delivery is part of a larger $2.22 billion deal made in 2019, which also included other military equipment such as Stinger missiles and armored recovery vehicles.
