This decision marks the first time since the Supreme Court's 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health ruling that a federal court has found a constitutional right to abortion access under specific circumstances. The ruling specifically blocks the enforcement of Idaho's near-total abortion ban when a pregnancy is terminated due to such health risks. Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador has appealed this decision to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and requested a pause on the injunction during the appeal process.
