President Trump has proposed resuming federal funding for the Gateway project, a critical infrastructure initiative involving the construction of a new rail tunnel between New York and New Jersey, on the condition that New York's Penn Station and Washington's Dulles International Airport be renamed after him. This proposal was reportedly dismissed by Sen. Chuck Schumer, who stated that he lacked the authority to fulfill such a request. The funding, initially secured under the Biden administration, was frozen during a government shutdown in October.
