Wildfires Threaten Multiple States Amid Extreme Heat and Drought
The United States is experiencing a significant increase in wildfire activity due to extreme heat and dry conditions, with tens of millions of acres primed for fire. According to USA Today, the National Interagency Fire Center reports that 1,631,840 acres have burned this year, more than double the 10-year average. As of April 2, 17,568 wildfires have been reported, surpassing the average of 10,789. Large fires have occurred in Florida, North Carolina, and Nebraska, with one Nebraska fire becoming the largest in state history.
