President Trump Announces Israel-Hezbollah Agreement to Reduce Hostilities
President Trump announced that Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to reduce hostilities following discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and communications with Hezbollah through mediators. This development comes after Israeli forces made a significant incursion into Lebanon, marking the deepest penetration in over 25 years. Trump stated that Israeli troops heading towards Beirut have been turned back, and both parties have agreed to cease attacks. Netanyahu confirmed the conversation but emphasized that Israel would strike targets in Beirut if Hezbollah's attacks continue. The ceasefire, initially established in mid-April, was disrupted by renewed Hezbollah attacks following Israeli strikes in Lebanon. The situation complicates ongoing negotiations to extend the ceasefire in the Iran war, with Tehran insisting that any agreement must include Lebanon.
