Travel Experts Advise Early Booking for Holiday Flights Amid Rising Costs
Travel experts are urging consumers to book their holiday flights for November and December now, rather than waiting, due to rapidly increasing airfares. Srinivas Grandhi, an airline passenger, has already noted the high costs while searching for flights. The primary driver behind these elevated prices is the surge in jet fuel costs. The Points Guy reports that Thanksgiving fares are currently 9% to 13% higher than last year, while Christmas fares have seen an even steeper increase, ranging from 12% to 18%. Travel expert Clint Henderson warns that prices could escalate further, making early booking a crucial strategy. The average airfare is reportedly $100 higher compared to the previous year, prompting travelers like Lyndsay Gunn to anticipate even higher costs for Christmas. This situation is leading to a shift from traditional advice, which often suggested waiting closer to the travel date for better deals.
