Idaho Falls Celebrates 45 Years of Friendship with Japanese Sister City Tokai-Mura
Idaho Falls is marking 45 years of friendship with its Japanese sister city, Tokai-Mura. This relationship, established in 1981, is celebrated through a Sister Cities exchange program. Recently, a delegation of 15 students and three chaperones from Tokai-Mura arrived in Idaho Falls to participate in cultural exchanges and visit local attractions. The Sister Cities program, initiated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, aims to promote peace and cultural understanding. The exchange includes visits to significant sites in Idaho Falls, such as the Idaho National Lab and Yellowstone National Park, fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two communities.
