Everland's Twin Pandas, Rui Bao and Hui Bao, to Relocate to China in December
Korea's first twin giant pandas, Rui Bao and Hui Bao, are scheduled to move from Everland to China in the third week of December. This relocation is part of an international giant panda conservation framework, which mandates that pandas born outside China must return to China before reaching breeding age, typically around four years old. Rui Bao and Hui Bao were born at Everland in July 2023 and have been under the care of Everland's panda keepers. Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Group, announced this move on September 30. The exact departure date and their specific destination in China are still being finalized, pending considerations such as the pandas' health, weather conditions, and the circumstances at their new home. Prior to their departure, the pandas will undergo approximately one month of health and quarantine management, similar to their older sister, Fu Bao, before her move.
