Coastal Flooding Persists After Storm Rachel in California
The remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel have caused significant damage across Southern California, including coastal flooding, debris flows, and damage to homes in Long Beach. While the worst of the storm has passed, coastal flooding advisories remain in effect from San Diego to San Luis Obispo, with high tides expected Monday and Tuesday mornings. Preliminary tide readings near Long Beach reached 7.6 feet on Sunday, with forecasts predicting similar levels for the next two days. Additionally, strong rip currents and large waves pose ongoing risks to swimmers and small boats. The National Weather Service also warns of a shift to high temperatures, dry air, and Santa Ana winds later this week, increasing wildfire risks.
