AI Chatbots Provide Unreliable Voting Advice During Hungarian Elections
A study conducted during Hungary's parliamentary elections revealed that AI chatbots provided inaccurate and unreliable voting advice. The research, published by the civil liberties group Liberties, found that chatbots often recommended incorrect parties, omitted relevant ones, or included parties not running in the election. The study highlighted significant biases, particularly against the Tisza party, which won the election. The findings raise concerns about the reliability of general-purpose AI systems in electoral contexts, as they often present authoritative yet inconsistent guidance without transparency or accountability.
