House Democrats Question Under Secretary Boren Regarding Alleged Diversion of Firefighting Resources to Private Ranch
Representative Angie Craig, D-Minn., the ranking member on the House Agriculture Committee, and Representative Andrea Salinas, D-Ore., the ranking member on the House Agriculture Forestry and Horticulture Subcommittee, have sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. The letter seeks clarification on whether Michael Boren, the Under Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Environment, "inappropriately pressured U.S. Forest Service personnel to divert firefighting resources from large wildfires to protect his private ranch in Idaho." This inquiry follows a similar letter sent last week by Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., to Secretary Rollins, which was also signed by Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., ranking member on the Senate Agriculture Committee, and Senator Martin Heinrich, D-N.M.
