Imperial County Approves Lot Merger for AI Data Center Development
The Imperial County Board of Supervisors has approved a lot merger to facilitate the construction of a hyperscale AI data center by Imperial Valley Computer Manufacturing. The decision, made in a 4-1 vote, combines several parcels of land and vacates a section of Leimgruber Road. Despite the approval, the developer must still secure water and electrical agreements with the Imperial Irrigation District. The meeting saw significant public opposition due to environmental concerns, with some community members arguing that the board bypassed California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review.
