Emmett Till's Cousin, Priscilla Till, Announces Candidacy for Mississippi Governor
Priscilla Till, cousin of Emmett Till, is preparing to launch her campaign for Governor of Mississippi. This announcement follows her unsuccessful bid in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, where she secured 18.6% of the statewide vote. Till, a former educator, human and civil rights activist, and founder of the Emmett Till Justice for Families Foundation, is expected to formally announce her gubernatorial campaign at an 'Justice on the Line' conference at Jackson State University on October 2. Her campaign is deeply rooted in the legacy of Emmett Till, whose 1955 murder in Mississippi became a pivotal event in the Civil Rights Movement. Till's public identity and advocacy have consistently focused on issues of justice, civil rights, racial inequality, law enforcement, and systemic problems affecting Black communities.
