Universities Embrace AV-over-IP Technology to Modernize Classrooms
Universities across the United States are upgrading their classrooms with AV-over-IP (Audio Visual over Internet Protocol) technology to enhance learning environments. This technology allows for the integration of audio, video, and control signals over a single network connection, simplifying the infrastructure and reducing costs. UCLA is at the forefront of this movement, having launched a $4.3 million pilot project to upgrade seven classrooms with AV-over-IP solutions. These upgrades include new displays, projectors, cameras, speakers, and control systems, all connected via a standard Ethernet network. The initiative is part of UCLA's 'Smart Campus' approach, which aims to create flexible and future-proof learning spaces.
