UK Firms Fined £800,000 for Safety Breaches After Worker Falls from Scaffolding
A London-based property refurbishment company, Axis Europe Ltd, and a roofing contractor, Premier Property and Construction Ltd, have been fined a total of £800,000 following a worker's fall from scaffolding. The incident occurred on April 15, 2024, at a site managed by Axis Europe. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) revealed that both companies failed to adequately plan, manage, and monitor construction work, particularly regarding lifting operations. Axis Europe was fined £640,000, while Premier Property and Construction was fined £160,000. Both companies pleaded guilty to breaching the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
