Baltimore Fireboats Respond to Sinking Towboat in Curtis Bay
The Baltimore City Fireboat Station responded to a mayday call from the Gale, a 145 gross ton towboat, which reported taking on water in the Curtis Bay/Curtis Creek region. The vessel, owned by McLean Contracting since 2020, was moving a fuel barge when it struck an object and began to sink. Despite the incident, all individuals on board were safely rescued with no reported injuries. The Gale remains partially above water, tied to the barge, as rescue operations continue.
