Canaveral Port Authority CEO Murray Inducted into Maritime Hall of Fame for Industry Contributions
Captain John W. Murray, CEO of the Canaveral Port Authority, has been inducted into the International Maritime Hall of Fame. This honor was bestowed during a ceremony hosted by the Maritime Association of the Port of New York and New Jersey at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Captain Murray's career in the maritime industry spans five decades, beginning as a third mate at Lykes Bros. Steamship Company and advancing to executive roles, including President and CEO of Hapag-Lloyd USA. Under his leadership, Port Canaveral has become a dynamic deepwater seaport with significant capital improvements and increased operating revenues. Murray is recognized for his leadership, vision, and dedication to the maritime industry, having also served on various boards and testified before Congress on maritime issues.
