Free Soil Sampling Program Launched for Indiana Farmers

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Gulf Hypoxia Program, has introduced the Indiana Mississippi River Basin Soil Sampling Program. This initiative offers free soil testing to farmers across Indiana to help them manage nutrients and protect the environment. Applications are open until November 6, 2026, or until funds are exhausted. Priority will be given to landowners with pastures, hay, and specialty crops within Indiana's portion of the Mississippi River Basin, particularly those with fields of 50 acres or less that have not been sampled in the last three years. The program excludes private lawns and hobby gardens.
