Skydiver Fatality and Injury Result from Midair Collision in Eastern Washington
A tragic skydiving accident occurred in eastern Washington when two skydivers collided midair during a group jump. The incident took place around 5:37 p.m. on Sunday, north of Ritzville, as reported by the Adams County Sheriff's Office. Emergency services were alerted to a medical emergency involving two skydivers. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that one skydiver had died, while the other was injured and required further medical treatment. The deceased was identified as Randy Hubbs from Kennewick, and the injured as Nicole Klein from Colville. The collision happened during their descent, and Hubbs reportedly lost control of his parachute canopy, becoming unresponsive. Witnesses observed him drifting away from the designated drop zone before disappearing beyond a hill. Weather conditions were not deemed a factor in the accident, and the jump involved a total of 11 participants. The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff's office has requested any additional information from the public.
